Once agin Luke needs saving, first in episode 4 by han, episode 5 by leia and in episode 6 by his own father. Wudn't it have been much cooler if Luke had taken on the emperor instead of being a big baby crying out to his father for help? I've been electrocuted before and it hurts. It immobilizes you... can't move. Palpatine killed Mace with the same lightning. That's kind of mean of you to say that he was being a "baby". He was lucky he didn't die. It would have been a bit cooler if Luke fought the Emperor. Thats what Wookiefeet was getting at. It would have been so awesome if this had happened: Luke cuts off Vader's hand. Vader's saber falls on the floor. Emperor says: "Join me. Your journey to the Dark Side is almost complete." or whatever he said lol. I'm just getting at a new plot idea. Luke says:"No... I'll never join you." Emperor says: " So be it." He uses force pull to get Vader's saber and he fights Luke with it. They fight up to the balcony with the chair and the window overlooking the battle. Luke manages to get the Emperor in a bind and he craftily cuts off his hands. Luke catches Vaders saber, and scissors of Palpatine's head. (Notice it would look just like the Episode III Dooku death scene.) OOOO! I'm getting shivers right now thinking about it! You can see his skeleton appear if you look closely. I thought the ending was quite good! The ending was appropriate for what had to happen. Luke could've fought the Emperor but that's not what the over all story was about, Lucas said it himself that Return Of The Jedi is the redemption of Darth Vader. But when you think about it, would the Emperor had fought Luke anyway? The Emperor was trying to tempt Luke to the Dark Side by killing Vader, just like Sidious did with Dooku when Anakin lopped off his head in AOTC.
